Welcome to the official website of Sylacauga Soaring Society. Glider Rides Available!, for those who just want a ride in a glider. Flights last about 30 minutes maybe longer, allows folks to experience a Pawnee airplane tow to 5,000' above the ground, a release to free flight and a quite flight with an certified pilot back to the ground. Cost is $99 dollars same as our Fast Start Package. You can call Steve Wallace, 205-365-0646 or any of our members that you see on our contact page to set up your flight or for more information. Group discounts (for three or more) are available. At the SSS we promote flying safety above all else. Our goals are to promote the sport of soaring, bring student's along with quality instruction, and to expand each pilot's abilities in multiple areas including cross country flights.
Visitors are welcome to drop in and get all their questions answered or simply observe our operations. We have a $99.00 "Fast Start" Packages for those that want a demo flight hands on the controls. The Fast Start Package includes a 30 day membership in the Sylacauga club and in the SSA, our national organization, flight & ground time with an instructor, flight log book, and a soaring flight manual. This package is designed to be both introductory to those new to flying and a demo for power pilots that may be interested in a add on rating for gliders.
