always long to return. Welcome to the official web site of the Sylacauga Soaring Society, - Alabama's newest and most progressive non-profit soaring club. Memberships are available!! $300.00 initiation fee, and dues are currently $50.00 per month. Typical aero-tow is about $30.00. The charges run per hundred of altitude towed plus a hook up fee. Our club has prospered in its first three years and the above dues have been reduced by 38% as a result. Come and join us at the Sylacauga Airport, a truly great venue for soaring. We operate mostly off the grass between a 5000' runway and the taxi way. New!! Are club incentives extended to tow pilots and to CFIG's of $2.00 per tow for each tow taken while giving lessons or towing other members. The credits are to be applied against the participating member's club account. Just one more way for advanced pilots to be rewarded for their participation in club operations and to offset the expense of their membership. At the SSS we promote flying safety above all else. Our goals are to bring student pilots along with quality instruction, break the Alabama state altitude and distance records, and to expand each pilot's abilities in several areas, including:
